The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2022 - Issue 31
M issoni is known for its ability to turn heads with complex, dazzling and dizzying prints that often glitter and shine, and this season showcased much of the same come-to-expect pieces. However, this collection showed what I took as an amped-up on the coquettish and se- ductive charm that displayed a bit more skin than usual (even for them) and a bit more of a relaxed, casual feeling. I loved the melted zigzag pattern of the full-length gown in look #13, as it seemed like it was almost melting off the model as she walked. I was also obsessed with the model in look #14 who wore that teeny tiny bikini like no one’s business. Look #16 also featured a bright burnt orange pair of wide-leg- ged trousers that I’ll have to find a way to own in my lifetime. The colour is too amazing to pass up. I will say that in its en- tirety, nothing truly stunning or noteworthy was presented by the newly appointed creative designer Alberto Caldiri, in my opinion. However, I noticed and appreciated that a definite '90s throwback nostalgia was used as inspiration like many other designers this week. As stated by the brand, the guide for this season's collection was "Declaration of love, a supreme act of freedom, Missoni celebrates the return to life with joy and stubborn optimism." The entire world has more or less gotten over the last two years, and I think we’re all dying to look back to a time when things were ‘ok’ overall. Damn, if we don’t want a bit of peace and something happy and shiny to look at and wear. We’ve all earned that much at the very least, and I love that Missoni isn’t making any excuses in designing pieces for just that. Hit the beach in something easy, slinky and alluring and make no excuses! www.missoni.com/gb
