A fter ending his nine-year tenure as vice head of mens- wear at Vivienne Westwood in 2016, Austrian-born designer Georg Weissacher embarked on his luxury menswear project Peoples of All Nations (POAN). It enabled him to merge his adoration for the art of storytelling with his love of clothing. The idea for POAN came from reading J. A. Hammerton’s book of the same name which influenced Weissa- cher to bring the concept to life through the medium of clothing. His debut collection ‘Sailor’ drew inspiration from David Lynch’s cult film Wild At Heart and Nicolas Cage’s lead protagonist, playing with the power of nostalgia with oversized tailoring and flashes of leopard print to evoke the aesthetic of the ‘90s “Living in London made me realise that we can achieve harmony through diversity. That we can deal with the challenges of our modern world successfully, only when we cherish and nourish our respec- tive differences. I wanted POAN to represent such concepts by embracing the beauty and curiosity in all, a brand without borders - we lovingly welcome you.” POAN’s designs are omnisex meaning they cater for all genders or identities. “Trends do not dictate designs, instead, ever the seekers of knowledge and philosophy, we often draw upon histor- ical, cultural and religious references for inspiration. We cater for those with an appreciation for design and detail - the tastemak- ers.” As with the first themed collection, films are an indispensable element of the POAN world. “It is the best medium of storytelling human beings have created.” The brand is structured into three collections: LOVE is their annual offering made up of two mainline collections, each divided into three different narratives that look at the versatility of love.
