Inner Goddess Butrym bitebags Magda S i nce presenting her signature AW15 collection in 2014, fashion designer Magda Butrym has rapidly progressed and pushed the boundaries beyond her ruf- fles and cutout shoulder designs. Initially, her brand language included exaggeration, ruching and glamorous fabrics of high-qual- ity pieces transformed into wearable objets d’art. She endeavours to create her take on femininity and shape a unique identity for women globally. Here is a designer redefining craftsmanship and creating the contemporary vision of ro- manticism in fashion. She connects the past with the future, minimalism with sexiness, elegance with effortlessness and strength with sensitivity. Working with independent Polish artisans, Butrym enriches the high- est quality fabrics with hand-knitted pieces, plaited leather and hand-embroidered or- naments. “I don’t want to define women. I want to empower them. I want us all to feel comfortable in our skin, happy, powerful and confident.” From handcrafted crochet and leather ap- parel to swimwear and handbags, Magda Butrym covers all the bases. Everything, including crochet, starts with a piece of thread carefully held and maintained by a human hand. “The repetitive, almost med- itative process brings peace and comfort. Feeling the rhythm of yarn passing between the fingers and watching the work develop seems soothing.” This tribute to the design- er’s ancestry is an ode to the Polish grand- mothers, mothers and friends who created beauty by knitting, crocheting, or weaving and passing the art from generation to gen- eration.
