These future aero- planes were a feat of British engineering marvel and signalled to the world that innovation was in our blood.” The Comet was developed by de Havilland Aircraft Company at its Hatfield Aerodrome in Hertfordshire with an aerody- namically clean design, turbojet engines in the wings, a pres- surised cabin, and square windows. When it flew into the sky in 1952, virtually the Concorde of its day, it changed aviation forever and flew higher, faster and smoother than any other airline. The jet age transports consisted of luxuries such as en- trance lobbies, powdering rooms and multiple feet of legroom for passengers. It features a 40 mm tri-bespoke case, sapphire box crystal with AR coating, pillow dial with applied indices, chamfered hands and hairline running seconds hand. It also has mag- nifying exhibition caseback, a custom crown with a concave cap and Sellita SW215-1 manual winding movement; each Pacific model has an individual character. Pacific 52, based on the Comet, features a classic retro ‘50s style design and subtle sandpaper texture with applied copper block Arabic numbers and brushed aluminium outer ring. Pacific 55, inspired by first-class air travel, also has a vintage classic ‘50s style and is the perfect watch for the lavish busi- nessman. Its two-tone gold base with black markings, gold pil- low dial and pips, radial textured subdial and polished block applied numerals are all encapsulated in Marloe’s first 1-mi- cron gold PVD tri-finish bespoke case. This beautiful golden number is available with Organic Padded or Stitched, Italian Miele or Marrone Rally, Italian Monteverdi or Nappa leather straps. The third model, Pacific 66, takes its inspiration from the dawn of stealth aircraft. It has the usual manual, hand-wound customised mechanical movement with a black pillow dial, radial textured subdial, applied indices and sapphire box crys- tal. The applied block indices and numerals are moulded from Superluminova BG-W9 alongside printed BG-W9 markings. The chamfered hour/minute hands have a two-texture finish complemented by a hairline, BG-W9 painted sub-seconds hand. The final model in this collection is Pacific 76, influenced by the dawn of commercial supersonic flight, the Concorde. This frequent flyer watch is for the professional jet traveller. Like the previous model, its classic British colourway features ap- plied block indices and numerals moulded from Superlumi- nova BG-W9 that offers an unmatched glowing intensity. The chamfered hour/minute hands also have a two-texture fin- ish complemented by a contrasting red hairline sub-seconds hand. Other watch collections include Coniston, named after Conis- tonWater in Cumbria, where Donald Campbell and his father, Sir Malcolm, set numerous water-speed records. Campbell was created in partnership with the Campbell Family Heritage Estate to celebrate their land speed records.
