bitefilms C Universe Infinite released antihero Black Adam onto the big screen, who was once bestowed with the powers of the Egyptian gods but imprisoned soon after. The story goes that Mighty Adam (as he was called then) was corrupted by a mysterious woman, later revealed to be Shazam’s evil daughter Blaze in disguise. She convinced the bewitched warrior they should rule Egypt, so he killed the Pharaoh and assumed the throne. This betrayal angered Shazam (formerly Captain Marvel), who renamed him Black Adam and, unable to revoke the powers he gave him, banished him to the most distant star in the universe. Eventually, Black Adam fights his way to modern times to challenge Shazam and his Marvel Family associates. In the 21st century, he is redefined as a cor- rupted antihero attempting to clear his name and reputation. Thus, we see an angry Black Adam freed from prison and ready to unleash his vengeance on the modern world. In the film, Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is depicted as someone slightly different. “I was a slave until I died. Then I was reborn as a god,” he explained. “My son sacrificed his life to save me. Now, I kneel before no one.” Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan) advises Black Adam his vision has shown him the future. “You have two choices. You can be the destroyer of this world, or you can be its saviour.” We will have to see the film to find out which one he chooses. Other Black Adam cast members include Sarah Shahi as Isis, Noah Centineo as Albert Rothstein, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman.
