O ur favourite booted feline returns to entertain us with the theatricals and those big heart-melting round eyes. After making his first appearance in the 2004 film Shrek 2 as the green ogre’s eventual partner and helper, the lovable tabby received his solo lead in Puss in Boots in 2011 and then Puss in Boots: The Three Diablos the year after. Ten years later, the Spanish-accented cat (voiced by Antonio Banderas) has overstated his nine lives after a bell falls on him fol- lowing a monster-slaying performance. After the doctor informs Puss in Boots he died, the feline shrugs it off since he has nine lives. “And how many times have you died already?” The doctor asks. Puss in Boots is forced to recollect all the events where he lost each life. Now down to his last, he must decide wisely how to live it. He is placed with Mama Luna and her multiple furry friends, where he meets therapy dog Perro (Harvey Guillén), but his visit is cut short after Goldilocks and the three bears crime family storm the home looking for him. He escapes with Perro and enlists the help of Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek). “Whenever I team up with you, things go wrong,” she cries, yet she accompa- nies him on a journey to find the mystical Last Wish to restore his lost lives. With Goldilocks and her hench- man at his paws, Puss in Boots must use his tricks to keep them at bay. Amid the action, Kitty outdoes Puss’ heart-melting cutest eyes with the paws, which fascinates Perro. He tries to do the same, but one eye pops out more prom- inent than the other. “Am I doing it?” he asks. “Stop! You’re going to give yourself a hernia,” Kitty tells him while Puss in Boots hides his face. We look forward to watching the entertaining and eclectic Puss in Boots on the big screen with the hope he retains his nine lives.
