It is also used to describe Magna Graecia (Great Greek), the ancient Greek cities of southern Italy, founded in 750 BC by colonists from Euboea, Sparta and other places in Greece. Magna Mater, meaning ‘great mother’ is the name given to Cybele, the Anatolian mother goddess. Regarding eyewear designer Nina Mûr and prestigious jeweller/ concept designer Helena Rohner, the two women came together to create a collaborative eyewear collection based on design and sus- tainability called Magna. Lorena Serrano, who founded Nina Mûr, the French for ‘kind’ and ‘mature’ in 2018, initially called her brand Nina Quiche, her alter-ego. She changed it to its current name after the brand reached great maturity during its four-year evolution. DESIGNER PROFILE
