The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2021 - Issue 30

bitecatwalk I mmensely entertaining, quirky, adora - ble, abundantly charming, uplifting and of course, incredibly beautiful, Moschino’s latest FW21 collection was AWESOME! Drawing upon the late Franco Moschino’s bril - liance, current creative director Jeremy Scott debuted his FW21 collection for the brand in a rather new and riveting manner via a dedi - cated short film about an audience watching models at a salon fashion show. Having previ- ously created a digital showcase for the brand’s SS season during the COVID lockdown, Scott designed a puppet-sized version of the col- lection to be exhibited with an impressively artistic marionette show. Thus, he drew upon the necessity of safety to develop another digi- tally captured collection. “I wanted to do things in the film that you can’t do live,” he said on a video call from Los Angeles for Vogue.com with Anders Christian Madsen. Largely based on the salon fashion shows held from the 1920s to the 1960s, a glamorous host or narrator would introduce and describe the collection as they walked, describing the inspirations, themes and ideals of the cloth - ing as they passed in an often theatrically staged setting. As such, Scott presented his vision about an audience that was cast with a beyond-stellar line-up of 36 top models and celebrities as the viewers and runway walkers watched the salon show. The collection is entitled 'Jungle Red' after the popular nail polish colour of George Cukor’s 1939 film,  The Women. One could see how Scott pulled much of his inspiration for this col - lection from this and other similar retro-classic films like Funny Face and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes , with looks that resembled those worn by Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe’s char - acters and supporting cast members. The looks were exquisite. Coquettish, elegantly feminine yet still managing to be humorous, perfectly styled, accessorised, and simply flawless in every way. In my opinion, the clothing in this collection represented what all of us have been DYING to wear again! The star-studded and excellently diverse cast Jeremy assembled for the show included Maye Musk, Elon Musk’s mother, who presented the salon show as its host, Winnie Harlow, Pre - cious Lee, Hailey Bieber, Miranda Kerr, Dita Von MOSCHINO
