The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2021 - Issue 30

bitecatwalk ike cloudy rainy days, now and then one truly craves a dark and moody runway show to put things in per- spective. Not everything can always be light, bright and ‘swishy,’ sometimes one needs a dose of shadows. The Alberta Ferretti show this season was just that. Atmospherically gloomy with a definite chill, things were warmed by the perfectly tai- lored collection. However, my interpretation aside, Ferretti’s intention wasn’t to produce a melancholic line-up, but rather one solidly based in reality. The reality of what today’s women are facing post-pandemic. She took classic silhouettes and styles, simplified them even more, and then added punches of flirtatious details, like ruffles, sequins, silk-ribbon rosettes and hand-sown hemlines for just the right amount of understated flare. The nearly solid mono- chromatic palette was broken with pops of mustard yellow, sage green and sky blue. The heavy materials of wool, assorted knits and denim were not necessarily played with, but rather kept intact and used very purposefully - no twisting or blending of things here. I did, however, adore her look #37, as it reminded me of a noir version of Mystique from X-Men. www.albertaferretti.com/gb_en Alberta Ferretti
