bitewatches Medicom Toy, makers of the lovable cartoon-style bear known as Be@rbricks which is a variation of the brand’s Kubrick design, has collaborated with Star Wars several times to create limited edition runs of their characters. The last three collections included adorable renditions of Ewoks, Darth Vader, C-3PO, Sith Trooper and Kylo Ren in 100% and 400% sizes. Each Be@rbrick comes equipped with a metal chain on its head to serve as a key- chain. Japanese watch brand Citizen has also featured Star Wars-themed timepieces that would be deemed treasured collectables. The limited-edi- tion Star Wars™ Bespin commemorated the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, named after the planet Bespin, an immense gas giant surrounded by many moons that contained a band of habitable atmosphere among its endless clouds. This planetary secluded from galactic turmoil by its location in a little-visited sector of space is de- scribed as an astrophysical rarity. In the film, enterprising prospectors have es- tablished floating mining complexes devoted to extracting valuable gasses from deep within the planet. “The most well-known of these ventures is the opulent Cloud City, formerly under the admin- istration of Lando Calrissian.” During the tail end of the Galactic Civil War, the Empire garrisoned Be- spin and took over Cloud City, though the outpost and the planet enjoyed freedom after the defeat of the Emperor at the Battle of Endor. The Bespin watch design visually recreates the orange pattern of the carbon-freezing chambers deep within the planet where Han Solo is encased in carbonite. It has a grey IP case and bracelet that complements the black dial with orange hands, white markers and a blue and red lightsaber at 3 and 9 o’clock. The lightsabers represent the most iconic battle in the Star Wars saga: the ultimate be- trayal where Luke learns Lord Vader is his father. The case back is etched with the Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary logo. Another collectable item is the Star Wars™ Mandalorian timepiece inspired by the feared bounty hunter’s rugged Mandalorian armour. The silver-tone stainless steel case is complemented by a brown Cordura® fabric strap with buckle closure. The back dial features full Arabic markers in a distressed print. It also has a spherical mineral crystal, three-hand function and is water-resistant to 100 metres. Both the Mandalorian and Bespin watches are powered by Eco-Drive technology, meaning you will never need a battery.
