The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2021 - Issue 30

This year’s theme represented the current global state of the planet, craving for intimacy, connection and a need to relate to one another. The show breathed in freedom, seductively inviting us to give in to the world of fashion. The mixture of visual stimulation and the interplay were projected outwards on the sequence of rooms the models navigated through during the show under isolated back- drops (somehow resembling us trapped inside our homes during the lockdown) that are brilliantly hued by the origi- nal electronic soundtrack by Plastikman, aka Richie Hawtin. Prada opened up the runway with exciting colour patterns that introduced a subtle notion of feminine energy along- side masculine force and presented a minimalised, struc- tured, dark-toned suit with classic leather shoes. Single and double-breasted coats did the talking on the runway, giving us the freedom to choose from various forms and patterns representing the authentic and un- apologetic contemporary men. From covering the body in an abstract way to perfectly fitted outwear, Prada offered a colour scheme from more neutral dark tones to loud and attention-seeking yellow, matched alongside purple leather gloves, with a small pouch on the right hand. One look, in particular, offered no less than five different textures in a single, cohesive outfit: turquoise leather gloves, woollen overcoat, mohair jumper, nylon roll-neck and jac- quard argyle long johns. The foundation of all is the indi- vidual: the human body, and its freedom expressed in the designs and consciously thought of visual installations and the show’s ‘non-spaces’ defined by panes of marble, resin, plaster and faux fur. www.prada.com/gb/en.html
