The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2021 - Issue 29
B orn of Lebanese descent, couture designer Ziad Nakad knew from his early teens that he would work in fashion. He was attracted by eccentric fabrics, sheer embroideries and unconventional beadings, which married his designs back then especially sketched for just his family to wear. His first fashion shows after launching his brand in 1997 gar- nered much praise from critics and opened the doors to a whirl- ing series of collections sparking international interest for the de- signer. This milestone led to his first international show in Milan in 2001, followed by Cannes in 2003. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength. The designer is celebrated for his ability to reveal the feminine side of every woman. He is also a design reference for fashion shows in Lebanon, the Middle East, the Gulf, Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the world. The Ziad Nakad woman is a timeless quest for beauty and elegance where class is the master of so- phistication and style. This season, the designer showed his colourful and symbolic hand-embroidered ‘Birds of Love’ collection at the Château de Vaux-Le-Vicomte in Maincy, France. He wanted this collection to be sexy and slightly frivolous to regain the carefree life of yester- day. The dresses were majestic, transparent, and airy, while the ostrich feathers mingled with silk and lace. Despite the restraints of lockdown, Nakad did not fail to deliver yet another enchanting and aspiring collection of sexy and ele- gant couture dresses. www.ziadnakad.com bitecatwalk OF LOVE
