Ca’ di Dio Hotel Opens in Venice bitetravel T he newly opened five-star Ca’ di Dio hotel is housed in a building that dates back to 1272 that welcomed crusaders and pilgrims for more than eight centu- ries. Located at the entrance to the Arsenale area, known as the Contemporary Art District of Venice, you will also find the famous Art Biennale here. The hotel set on the River Ca’ di Dio overlooking the iconic lagoon and a short distance from Piazza San Marco was curated by the stu - dio of internationally renowned architect Patricia Urquiola. Urquiola aimed to create an original and distinctive con- cept of a Venetian ‘house’ linked to the city’s history. Whilst it is uncommonly contemporary in style for Ven- ice, guests will be able to admire the bright travertine and perfectly preserved frescoes. You will find decorative el - ements such as Murano glass and boiserie, architectural details, and lighting have been selected using small local artisan companies to ensure a strong sense of place. Ca’ di Dio comprises 57 suites and nine Deluxe rooms set over three floors. Ten suites have a sensational view of the lagoon and the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, and two other suites have access to a large roof terrace overlooking the San Marco Basin. In addition, the hotel has two internal courtyards home to the Alchemia Bar and Essentia Restaurant during the summer months and the indoor-outdoor VERO restaurant overlooking the lagoon where guests can relax. The cuisine is inspired by typical Venetian dishes, with an added modern touch that respects the seasonality of the ingredients from the hotel’s vegetable garden located in the third internal courtyard.
