bitewatches Jada Brookes looks at iconic watch brand Raymond Weil’s musical influences and their fourth maestro Beatles timepiece. Raymond Weil A renowned watch brand and one of the flagships of the Swiss watchmaking industry, Raymond Weil’s musical influences have seen them reflect its inspiration in sev- eral watch collections. In 1983, Amadeus, named after the clas- sical Austrian composer Mozart, was launched in conjunction with Miloš Forman’s world-acclaimed film of the same name. Fidelio was named after Beethoven’s only opera, and other col- lections included Toccata and Fantasia. Thanks to its empowering music partnerships and events, 2013 saw RaymondWeil become further involved in the music genre. At the Baselworld fair, the brand designed an impressive booth and the world’s biggest watch and jewellery show in the form of a 9-metre high, solid wooden cello. They partnered with the Royal Albert and renewed alliances with charities like VH1 Save The Music Foundation, ACMF (Australian Children’s Mu- sic Foundation) and Nordoff Robbins, and glamorous events like the Brit Awards. The Music Icons series campaign was launched celebrating unique artists and brands such as Frank Sinatra, Gibson guitars, Sennheiser and Nicola Benedetti. Raymond Weil celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2016 with the Fab Four and a new maes- tro, The Beatles limited edition timepiece, followed by the Bud- dy Holly and David Bowie limited editions. Perhaps the most continued limited edition collection of them all is The Beatles maestro timepieces, of which there are now four. The first 3,000-piece limited edition entitled ‘13 Album’ has the names of The Beatles albums written around the bespoke dial. It includes the first release, ‘Please Please Me’ between 12 o’clock and 1 o’clock and ‘Help’ at the 4 o’clock index. The silver galvanic dial matches the polished steel bracelet and features the official Beatles logo and a date window at 3 o’clock. The case-back pre- sents a smoked sapphire crystal that carries the official Beatles logo and the limited edition number engraved. Abbey Road , the eleventh studio album recorded byThe Beatles, is the name of the second limited edition maestro 39.5 mm steel case timepiece with an RW4200 automatic winding movement. The black dial replicates an LP record, embellished with micro- grooves and an ‘Abbey Road’ album special index at 4 o’clock. The official Beatles logo is located at the centre of the dial with steel indices that circumnavigate the dial. A date aperture is po- sitioned at 3 o’clock, and the watch is equipped with a central sweep seconds hand. In 2019, Raymond Weil presented The Beatles Sergeant Pepper limited edition collection inspired by the legendary Sgt. Pep- per’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album. The timepiece features an RW4200 mechanical self-winding movement housed in a 40 mm polished yellow gold PVD plated stainless steel case with 38 hours of power reserve. The grey dial has the black Pepper drum outlined in the centre highlighted by yellow gold electro- plated details such as the outer edge of the drum. Let It Be Limited Edition
