Jada Brookes discovers LIV Watches’ latest timepieces and their subsequent pieces since their inception in 2014. bitewatches W hen a tight-knit group of passionate watch enthusi- asts with a singular mission get together, they some- times create unique, handcrafted limited-edition Swiss wristwatches that stand the test of time. LIV was founded by husband and wife Sholom ‘Chaz’ and Esti Chazanow. Along with their team, they back every timepiece with a concierge-style support experience. “Our goal is to build relationships with peo- ple because we want fans, not customers.” Chaz and Esti credit some of their success to the fans who “are as invested as we are in this concept, continually giving us valu- able input to improve our designs and processes. Our incredible group of fans is what makes us tick.” LIV was created after the couple repeatedly saw boring, repetitive designs churned out year after year. “We saw watches that didn’t provide for individ- ual expression. There was a blatant lack of uniqueness in styles and colourways.” LIV decided they would be different from other brands and con- nect to its fans, forming and sustaining genuine relationships. “A brand that would involve the people who bought their watches in the process of product development. A brand that would contin- ually aim to create distinctive limited-edition watches screaming attitude and nonconformity. Perfect timepieces for the watch lover looking for something different to add to his or her col- lection.” In 2014, LIV launched on the crowdfunding platform Kickstart- er and received an overwhelming response. The following year, they debuted the 45 mm GX-1 Swiss Chrono available in Sig- nature Orange, Sky Blue, TJ Blue, Swiss Panda, Venom Yellow, Rose Gold, limited-editions Cool Grey and The Orange. It has a 13 jewel gold-plated precision Swiss quartz movement 5040.D, 1/100th of a second chronograph with date, fully adjustable hands, 3-5 year battery life and EOL (End of Life) indicator. The high-grade 316L stainless steel case has a scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass with a screw-down crown with LIV logo inlay and LIV machine style design bezel with screws. The multi-layer sandwich dial features a deep sun- burst centre, steel sword-shaped hands with BGW9 lumines- cence. The straps are available in stainless steel bracelet, silicone black with orange accents, and black waxed, alligator or French leather with orange stitching.
