The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2021 - Issue 29
bitefilms S upernatural psychological horror-thriller film Old is one of those movies that make you come face to face with your biggest fears, and this time, it’s ageing entirely in one day. The Blinding Edge Pic- tures production is directed and produced by M. Night Shyamalan and based on the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeters. Old is the first movie Shyamalan has shot on 35 mm since The Last Air- bender and filmed with an impressive cast of international stars, including Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Rufus Sewell, Ken Leung, Abbey Lee, Aaron Pierre, Alex Wolff, and Embeth Davidtz. M. Night Shyamalan films a chilling, mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday that discov- ers the secluded beach where they are relaxing somehow causes them to age rapidly and reduces their entire lives into a single day.Their paradise holiday quickly turns into disturbing encounters when a protagonist kid spots a woman’s dead body. This discovery causes a lot of chaos amongst the family members and a few other tourists that they meet on the beach. Even more, when the dead body decomposes in minutes (according to the film, it usually takes seven years), then it spirals off into events that no one would ever dream possible, even in their most terrifying nightmares. “We are here for a reason” is a cutting line before we get to see the full story in cinemas this summer.
