bitenewmusic T he second single taken from her forthcoming debut album (to be announced soon) set to drop later this year on EMI/PMR Records, New York-based singer, songwriter and producer Amber Mark released ‘Com- petition’. The track is a thematic profession from the first single, ‘Worth It’, with the artist’s previous reflections on her sense of self-worth now blossoming into a celebration of her strength. The new single is accompanied by a stunningly choreographed official video co-directed by Amber with Cara Stricker. “I hold this one so close to my heart. ‘Competition’ comes from a state of always comparing yourself to others and how ruthless that competitive nature can be towards yourself and toward others,” Amber said about the single. “The song is a reminder of how much stronger we are together.” Like her other tracks, ‘Competition’ delves into the depth of the moment with both energetic and slow-paced choreography and a sense of achiev- ing that inner core. While her previous single ‘Worth It’ marked the first official track from the artist since the 2020 album Generous , she still had a productive year last year. During New York City’s brutal and strict lockdown in the first wave of the pandemic, Amber used her simple home studio to create a series of home-produced covers and originals titled ‘Covered-19’, each accompanied by a homemade video and artworks. The series was followed by a collaboration with longtime friend Empress Of on protest song ‘You’ve Got To Feel’ earning Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac’s Hottest Record, ‘Tune Of The Week’ and a spot on the Radio 1 playlist. Earlier this year, Amber featured on legendary DJ Paul Woolford’s new piano-house track ‘Heat’, which again snagged Annie Mac’s Hottest Record and a long run across the Radio 1 and 2 playlists.
