bitecatwalk D uring this pandemic era, co-designers and creative direc- tors of Oscar de la Renta had one thing they never usually have when putting together not only a collection, but making it available for store sales - time! They had extra time to sort through things and take a much-needed breath while exploring their new start-up line, Monse. Due to the hold on all shipping methods, the two had the opportunity to use the fabrics in their deadstock to create what’s become their signature patchwork pieces, from raw denim and khaki. Jackets were fused, with one half a trench and the other half a jean jacket to form an outerwear item. Asymmetrical, biased and off-centre layering and joining are the M.O. of this brand, and it has the staying power to appeal to a more upscale urban streetwear set of fans. The collec- tion continued on this thread of mixing and matching various weights and textures of fabrics to fuse and blend them into solid, unified articles of clothing, just with two faces.While I like this ambitious idea of merging styles, I am not confident enough to wear most of these resort collection pieces. But, their seasonal line features basic dresses, trousers, tops, and knits that I truly fancy. I loved their cargo golden halter sequin dress.
