The Bite Magazine - Autmn/Winter 2020 - Issue 28

bitecatwalk T his AW20 collection is a tribute to the late founder, Andres Sarda, who sadly passed away in 2019 at the age of 90. His daughter, Nuria Sarda has stepped up to take over as creative director of the brand and was the force behind this latest collection of chic and avant-garde luxury lingerie. The brand’s history dates back to the late 19th century when they began as mantilla manufacturers. As time progressed, the brand developed and moved into creating up-to-date linge- rie garments. However, they have always used their talent for lace-making in their designs, “Lace has always been the material par excellence for us. Making lace is an art with centuries of history, with which we are able to draw on and exalt the female body.” As such, the show was, in a word, irresistible! It’s more elab- orate, somewhat costume-like pieces bordered on the line of kinky fantasy-wear, while others were far more practical, yet still absolutely alluring and undeniably feminine. For example, the sheer lace bodysuits that were shown were amazingly pretty - super simple, yet always interesting enough to make one take a second look. The wireless lace barrettes that were layered under some of the sheer teddy tops also caught my eye, as so few can design a supportive wireless bra. One of my favourite looks had to be the glittery silver set that just oozed sex appeal! It was like watching a ‘steamy’ snowflake float down the runway despite its ensemble being incomplete, as it didn’t have thigh-high stockings attached and the fit was a bit off on the model, but the lightening bolt-like bra straps were cool. Nevertheless, the look was modern and made a subtle, albeit bold statement. The show ended with several floor-length nighties in lace with various cutout patterns and tiered lace embellishments as well as some attractive beguiling dramati- cally flared lace pants. www.andressarda.com
