The Bite Magazine - Autmn/Winter 2020 - Issue 28

A ccording to Creams co-founder and CEOAdam Mani, in his online inter- view with Big Hospitality, “Desserts have a unique edge over other food types, in the fact that they intrinsically excite the imagination and always make people happy.” This very valid observation encouraged Mani and his entrepreneurial friend Balal Aqil to start Creams Café in 2008 after they saw a gap in the market for desserts that high street chains like Nando’s and Pizza Express seemed to treat as an afterthought. To carefully select authentic gelato, the founders took several trips to Italy, where the frozen dessert’s roots date back to 16th century Florence. Decor-wise, you will find Creams stores generally have the 1950s’ retro American style with a black and purple colour scheme alongside distinctive lighting for a trendy, unique looking design and feel. The first Creams store was opened in Southall, west London in 2011, followed by the establishment of the Creams Gelato Factory a year later. Today, there are many Creams stores in the United Kingdom, with the majority in London. With 90 locations across the UK, the group plans to reach their first 100 stores in 2021. Indulgent sundaes, thick and creamy milkshakes, waffles and crepes, Italian-style gelato sundaes, freakshakes, unique cookie dough desserts and vegan choices, this is what ice cream heaven is made of. Even the imaginary chocolatier WillyWonka would have been jealous. on bitedesserts CREAMS CAFÉ Banana-scoff
