bite cars If the car is on a motorway or a ring road, it helps the sys- tem to avoid dazzling cars coming in the opposite direction. When it encounters reflective road signs, the system can also reduce the intensity of the individual LEDs that create the area illuminated by the headlights, to make driving more comfortable. At the rear of the Ferrari Roma, the two linear full LED headlights are traversed by a horizontal light strip that brings a sense of tension to the car, in a nod to the iconic Ferrari Monza SPs. To enhance its best-in-class aerodynamic performance, a mobile rear spoiler was developed by Maranello engineers to integrate into the rear screen. This retains the car’s formal elegance when retracted and guarantees the down- force essential for the car’s extraordinary performance by automatically deploying at high speeds. The tail of the Roma is very modern with twin taillights that look like gems set into the volume while linear light strips create a dialogue with the nolder. FinalWord Based on the Ferrari Portofino, the Roma is what commer- cial chief, Enrico Galliera, would describe as representing “a new Gran Turismo”. He went on to say it has been designed to appeal to potential customers who would “love to drive a sports car or a Ferrari but might be a bit afraid of one.” Perhaps as a type of training wheels but in a more modern and less kindergarten sense.“This car will attract people who have never driven a sports car, who drive something less aggressive and now want something a bit more ex- treme.” The new Roma is a bit faster and more dynamic than the Portofino so newcomers, especially enthusiastic ones, would be delighted with this notion. With a particularly low nose and new grille design, these are some of the features that are appealing and enhance its attractive pose. Although it is said to be a rival against the likes of the Porsche 911, the Aston Martin DB11, and the McLaren GT, it is perhaps more likely measures against fellow grand tourers Aston MartinV8Vantage and Mercedes AMG GT. As the campaign video indicates, this is the car to roam through the city streets or the country roads, enjoying the immense driving experience to the fullest with ease. Its smooth look and fine lines, yet powerful stance, are enough to make you want to take a spin in the Ferrari Roma. But once you’ve had a taste of this super coupé, you’ll probably end up wanting to keep it forever. The double twin exhaust pipes will surely give you the power of the prancing horse. www.ferrari.com/en-EN/auto/ferrari-roma
