bite cars lb-ft of torque which translates into a G-force record of 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds at a top speed of 191 mph. Besides the Twin Mo- tor Unit and Direct Drive Electric Motor, the Power Drive Unit (PDU) manages hybrid motor power and battery charge while the Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) is the brain (and primary bat- tery) of the power unit. Inside The Cabin To enhance, support, and clarify the owner’s driving experience, the Acura NSX has a wide range of components that commensu- rate with the desires of the driver and the driving environment thanks to its Integrated Dynamics System. Located in the centre console, the Dynamic Mode Dial allows drivers to dial in desired performance by selecting among four dynamic modes: Quiet, Sport, Sport+ and Track. With these four options, NSX owners can really relish in the drive of their lives. Whether they choose to fly under the radar in Quiet mode, en- joy a refined yet exhilarating long-distance cruise in Sport mode, carve up a mountain road in Sport+ mode or explore the at-limit track performance of NSX in Track mode, the NSX Integrated Dynamics System conforms the dynamic character and capabil- ities of the car to the will of the driver. Therefore, you have the freedom to manoeuvre and take the road the way you have always dreamed of. You will notice that the steering wheel, compact metre cluster and low dashboard create a very low cowl. Along with the narrow A-pillars and offset side mirrors, this provides both forward and lateral unobstructed views during cornering that support pre- cise clipping of the driver’s desired apex. This is thanks to a new technology that maximises driver forward visibility: three-di- mensionally bent and quenched (3DQ) ultra-high-strength steel (UHSS) A-pillars which are narrower than those on the original NSX. The instrument panel combines authentic refined materials and surface textures with an easy to use and ergonomically designed ‘simple sports interface’ system for intuitive and stress-free op- eration and functionality. Both the instrument panel and centre console feature handcrafted materials, including genuine leather atop the instrument panel, faux-suede Alcantara across the top of the driver’s gauge cluster hood and additional Alcantara trim- ming for the centre console and glovebox. Audio operation and navigation are made easier through the single 7-inch capacitive touchscreen which allows the advanced, user-friendly suite of audio and connectivity technologies to be easily controlled. The Display Audio system is supplemented by steering wheel-mounted controls to provide access to features and functions at the driver’s fingertips. Designed by Grammy and Emmy award-winning recording engineer and music producer Elliot Scheiner, the ELS Studio Premium Audio System boasts 9-speakers and 580-watts of power. The cabin also has an 8.0-inch Dynamic Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) gauge cluster at the front and centre of the instrument panel which is overlaid with a digital-analog tachometer dial that resembles a traditional large analog tachometer. The TFT centre meter is flanked by digital gauges displaying the Sport Hybrid SH- AWD system motor’s state of charge/assist (left) and the battery’s state of charge (right), with an analog engine coolant temperature gauge on the left and a fuel gauge on the right. On the Outside Made up of new materials and construction methods, the mul- ti-material space frame of the Acura NSX achieves unprecedented dynamic rigidity, outstanding outward visibility, and world-class collision performance. With the use of lightweight aluminium, steel, and carbon fibre in select areas, the NSX is designed to di- rectly respond to the driver’s cornering demands. This is done by transmitting these inputs to the chassis while maintaining a perfect connection between the front and rear axles and com- municating both the driver’s action and any changes in the road surface. For the first time, the all-robotic MIG (Metal Insert Gas) welding of the space frame has been used in the body structure of the all-new Acura NSX which uniforms and precisely joins all of the aluminium components. Sheet hydro-formed aluminium is used for the outer door panels while aluminium stampings are used for the hood and roof (with a carbon fibre roof as an option), and sheet moulding compound (SMC) is used for the fenders and trunk lid. A high-temperature-resistant ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) plastic is used near the engine. At the front and rear of the Acura NSX, there are a variety of LED lighting features, including Acura Jewel Eye LED headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRL) and LED taillights. As a standard feature, the Acura Jewel Eye LED headlights are designed to com- plement the aggressive low and wide exterior appearance with each one containing six individual LEDs. The low beam setting uses the four outer LEDs and all six LEDs are used when the high beams are activated. The NSX LED daytime running lights (DRL) use the top half of each LED headlamp that make up the Acura Jewel Eye LED head- light assembly. LED position lights are located just beneath the LED headlamps and are composed of a series of small and tightly packed LEDs that run in a thin continuous line along the bottom of the headlight assembly. The LED lighting is also used for the turn signals at both the front and rear of the vehicle. Aerodynamics has always been an important element in motor- ing.
