bite perfume as those in development, Freddy gets immense joy when he hears of his customer’s experience with his products. They are after all organic, eco-friendly, and natural handmade products made with the finest natural ingredients. I was intrigued by the various scents, the look of the products in my gift pack, and the packaging. The bold ‘F&S London’ label really stands out as well. The first product Freddy created was a black beeswax, coco- nut, and soy candle. “It took me ages to create this as I used a green extract that made it quite difficult to pour. I ended up having to create my own special way of pouring candles to avoid shrinkage and create an even surface with no bubbles against the container.” Before this, he had bought 33 bottles of essential oils which began the process of his product devel- opment, which he has kept as keepsakes to remind him how it all started. It usually takes around 6 months for a new product to be de- veloped, tested, and meet his standards. Freddy admitted that some products had come around by accident whilst creating something entirely different. The perfumes take longer to de- velop and macerate to ensure the combination is what he ex- pects; a product that he doesn’t keep tonnes of stock at any one time. Amazedly, he even prints his own jars for the candles which shows he is the true entrepreneur that he is. Passion and vision in making a quality product are really what drives the founder. “I really believe that with a passion for what you are making and holding solidly to your vision, the quality of the product speaks for itself.” As if to support this notion, Freddy pointed out "you can tell a product that has been hand- made with love and attention versus something that’s popped out of a soulless machine.” We certainly agree that Flower & Spice London products have been handmade with love and attention. The candles are made from vegetable oils such as rapeseed, soybeans, and coconut, as well as beeswax, and have brilliant burning effects. This means when the candle burns cooler, the recipient can enjoy it up to 40%-60% longer than a candle made from paraffin. It also means that candles burn cleaner and do not produce black soot. The great news is the scent from soy wax candles is robust powerful and much more de- lightful than the scent from paraffin candles.
