bite beauty Street. Thinking about a brand with 250 years of trading does not seem so old initially until you actually put a date on it. It was during the reign of King Charles I that entrepreneur Jona- than Yardley obtained a Royal Warrant to be the sole provider of soap in London. Following the Great Fire of London in 1666, Yardley’s early records were lost, but one thing remained - soaps should be infused with lavender. In 1770, the Cleaver family established Yardley which was later acquired by William Yardley in 1801. Charles Yardley inherited the business from his father, Wil- liam, in 1824 and took on William Statham as a business part- ner to form Yardley & Statham. With time, the production of soaps reached the US market and their success started spread- ing throughout the globe. In 1884, the company was renamed Yardley & Co and became one of the most prestigious and world-leading soap and per- fumery houses. The first shop opened in 1910 at No. 8 New Bond Street, after which they experienced tremendous suc- cess. Today, Yardley London has six Royal Warrants, their own quality lavender fields across southern England, and has had many famous faces in their campaigns, including Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton in the 1960s. The House of Yardley even spon- sored a B.R.M Formula One team for the launch of their men's toiletries in 1971. Since then, Yardley London has grown from strength to strength, innovating itself and introducing new collections of fragrances and soaps, such as the Jewel Collection, and Flow- erful. They relaunched their traditional Floral range and intro- duced the new Contemporary Florals which combines Eau de Toilette with Luxury Soap. FLOWERFUL COLLECTION This collection comes in five delicious Eau de Toilette fra- grances, all with their own individual scents. There is one for every mood and taste, and for me, they represent the power of flowers in every season, with their colours, emotions, and infusion of nature at its best. DECADENT MIMOSA This green floral Eau de Toilette is fresh and deliciously uplifting. The opening spicy notes of Mandarin, Pear, and Pink Pepper lead the way to the sunny, fresh, and the sweet scent of Mimosa, combined with Violet, Iris of the Valley; and the warm base of Sandalwood, Vanilla, and Musk create an infusion of flow- ers so delicate but vibrant at the same time. It reminds me of long walks in the parks of Rome, where mimosa grows everywhere, leaving its sweet scent all over town. Mimo- sa is the flower that represents women, and therefore, is one of the most shared and most loved scents during March. OPULENT ROSE This fragrance celebrates the richness and so- phisticated scent of Roses. The hint of Carna- tion is blended with the warm scent of Am- ber, Patchouli, and Musk, creating a fragrance that is dreamy, sensual, and very seductive. For me, it is the scent of passion and romantic feeling on a summer’s night. EXQUISITE PEONY A floral bouquet infused with Freesia, Rose, and Jasmine, it is blended gloriously with Peony accords. The mid-scent of Cit- rus is embraced by the warm base of Cedarwood, Musk, and Blond Woods creating a young fresh and feminine scent. I love the combination of its flowers which makes me think of exotic places and the joy of freedom. LUXE GARDENIA This is a real fresh uplifting and modern fragrance where the opening scent of Bergamot, a sprinkle of Salt, and Coconut are happily blended with the rich and luxurious scent of Orange, Magnolia, and Gardenia flowers.
