bite lifestyle Nimr and Cecil Dove, co-founders and designers of REVERY, a new men’s fashion line that’s about to take New York by storm. Nimr is an aspiring and talented designer who has just launched his first collection of killer urban streetwear. He looks like one of those very attractive men you see working out at the gym that you’d be afraid to approach because they’re just that pretty and can do v-ups ab curls, but once you get past that first initial and awkward hello, you quickly realise they’re incredibly kind. It was a great opportunity to find out more about the amazing REVERY designer. Born and raised in Connecticut by his Irish-American mother and Palestinian father from Jerusalem, Nimr attended Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. There, he studied history, philosophy and English literature but actually went into finance after graduating; with fashion designing being the last thing he ever thought he’d do. “After I graduated from Swarthmore, I actually spent some time in the finance world, so fashion design and developing a brand was the furthest thing from my mind.” “I owe my deep interest in fashion to my mother, who has always been incompara- bly stylish and on top of every trend years before they hit the mainstream. She tried to impart those same sensibilities throughout my life. Because of her, I took a shot in the dark and interned for a fashion brand, which is where I met my business partner, Cecil Dove. A year later, I applied and attended Parsons where I earned my fashion degree.” Together, Nimr and Dove went on to co-found their brand, REVERY and launch their first collection in September of 2017. “Cecil Dove is my co-founder and the creative director, and has affectionately been referred to as the heart of the brand and, in my humble opinion, the creative genius,” shared Nimr when asked about his partner in the company and their work together. “We like to think of ourselves as a luxury streetwear [brand] that challeng- es conventional norms and can be worn in a variety of situations and events.” “Cecil and I are both members of minority communities in America, and we draw a lot of inspiration from this confluence of identities. I believe this can be seen in a lot of our pieces. Our design development usually centres around a theme related to this experience in some way, and is then expanded upon but may not have anything to do with past collections. I think there’s a lot to be said about brands that find their lane and decide to stay in it, and this one happens to be ours.”
