The Bite Magazine - Spring 2019 - Issue 24

bite catwalk B ora Aksu presented a hyper feminine collection at London Fashion Week, encompassing everything you could think of for spring and summer. Floaty dresses, flowers entwined in hair, sun- shine breaking through the trees in a forest, Bora Aksu presented a springtime fantasy. Models walked to a magical forest backdrop like fairies from a fairytale. Dainty frills and delicate lace details, romantic silhouettes flowed as models moved down the catwalk, while trains of lightweight chiffons and silk billowed and doll-like dresses bounced with the volume of layers and ruffled details to the magical style of the collection. Busy floral prints added to the springtime summer feel with the addition of bright pinks, purples and yellows that entwined within floral prints. While the overall look of the collection was reminiscent of historical silhouettes, there were elements of modern techniques imbued into the design. Laser cut panels reminiscent of lace stood out against the delicate silks, while Peter Pan collars were a signature throughout the collection. Bora referenced his own experiences with traditional fashion growing up with the addi- tion of floral head pieces, printed scarves, flower crowns and floral caps adorning various models, a welcome addition into the collection’s aesthetic. A nod to the traditions and heritage of his home country of Turkey combined with ‘70s elements, bohemian maxi dresses, a fruity colour palette and soft pastel tones. Make-up was left minimal and natural and hair was looped into plaits. www.boraaksu.com Bora Aksu
