The Bite Magazine - Spring 2019 - Issue 24
T he beautifully unique style of Richard Quinn did not fail to shine this season. It was a take on Hollywood glamour meets Quinn’s mysterious nature, which is moody and sensual at times. Beauti- ful streamlined dresses flounced down the aisle set in between two podiums of elegant floral displays com- plimented by a midnight blue thunderstorm backdrop. The stage and scene was set, with models walking to the sound of the philharmonic orchestra which creates an atmosphere of watching a leading lady take centre stage in an old Hollywood film. The dresses were embellished with carefully selected Swarovski crystals; the superb detail glittered as the fabrics moved. The models’ hair was swept up into glamorous hairdos befitting a starlet. Pushing colour, print and ‘hyper-glam- ourous’ shape, the collection was overwhelmingly beautiful while poise, drama and elegance featured heavily. Smouldering eye make-up complimented the ongoing thunderstorm and felt purposeful leading on from the all black numbers at the beginning of the col- lection. Then it quickly divulged into Quinn’s signature floral style, bright embellished prints contrasted full skin tight body suits. As the full skirts swayed with movement like dark clouds parting way for the sun, Quinn’s collection became bright and colourful, with graceful white numbers complimenting borderline tropical prints and exotic flowers. Feather trims fluttered against pastel floral tights and hints of bright yellow and black made their appearance through details and embellishments connecting the varied collection back together.Volume was explored from latex trousers to tailored coat dresses into balloon skirts and baby doll dresses. Using his rising popularity and platform as an opportu- nity to breach the topic of a significant decrease in Art GCSEs in recent years, Quinn chose to invite students and teachers from his previous school with the hope of inspiring a new generation of creatives. www.richardquinn.london RICHARD QUINN bite catwalk
