behind the A-pillar, fresh air flows into the vehicle at the level of the window and is absorbed by the C-bar, guiding it through to the wheel arch and leaving the car via the rear. The back of the Chiron with its all-round trailing edge was designed to ensure that there is a lower drag and also to meet the requirements posed by the high power output, the new top speed and heat dissipation from the rear end. With a suction effect behind the rear end, this allows the extraction of hot air collection in the engine compartment. Although the Chiron appears to have a balance of ‘beauty’ and ‘beast’ in terms of its defined lines, it has been in fact significantly shifted in the direction of aggression. This can be seen in the more dynamic sideline, the central fin that gives an impression of acceleration, the elon- gated rear wings and the more dynamic angle of attack. The front emblem on the radiator grille also known as the Bugatti ‘Macaron’ is a completely new design and is one third larger than its predecessor. Its eyecatcher with a circumference of 26cm consists of 970 solid fine silver and enamel and has a total weight of 155g, including 140g of silver. Previously, the emblem had 2D optics, with an art deco log and a hint of shadow, which is reminiscent of the 1920s. Today, the new emblem is a 3D design creating the effect of letters hov- ering over the red enamel. Verdict Bugatti has certainly played their cards right and won the praise of car experts with the introduction of the Chiron at the Geneva International Motor Show. Although the Veyron will still be con- sidered a remarkable car for years to come, the Chiron is now considered its reigning successor that is certain to keep the French luxury brand’s position at the top of the car making game. Just like Porsche’s Panamera (which catches my attention every time I see one), the Chiron looks absolutely amazing in a bigger size. The Chiron wins bigger points than its predecessor thanks to its tita- nium exhaust which helps reduce back pressure compared to the Veyron, an improved charge air cooling system and 10 radiators. It also has big brakes with rear and back discs that are 20mm larger and 2mm thicker and made from carbon silicon carbide that is both lighter and more resistant to fade. The tyres also get a boost and are now 14 percent wider at the front and 12 percent at the rear, both wrapped around 20-inch front and 21-inch rear rims. With five different driving modes to choose from, the driver will consistently have a thrill of a drive with ‘Lift’, ‘Auto’, ‘Autobahn’, ‘Handling’ and ‘Top Speed’ options available. The price tag of £1.9m may have most people gasping and sitting down in amazement for a long time but it hasn’t stopped more than 200 customers from around the world snapping up this gem of a fast car. With the title of the fastest car in the world, who wouldn’t want to be in a Bugatti Chiron, especially if you have that kind of money? www.bugatti.com bite cars
