The Bite Magazine Issue 17

Ashley Isham Eccentric and bold, Ashley Isham’s latest AW16 collection did not fail to make a lasting impres- sion. This London-based designer has been producing show-stopping pieces for over the last decade. His looks captivate, with their beautiful embroidery and stunning sequin and lace work, each piece is truly a masterpiece of expert tailor- ing. This season, however, Ashley took a little dip into the dark side, leaving behind his bright colour palette from previous seasons in favour of some- thing richer, more sensual and definitely more decadent. Layering luxurious silks and velvets, laces, lamés and leathers, this 52-piece collec- tion contains looks that can be deconstructed for the less full-fledge haute couture gurus or worn as presented for truly over-the-top glam- ourised ensembles that really make a statement. However, it was in my opinion that this collection really was all about the trousers! The high waisted wide leg trousers that walked in an array of mate- rials and prints truly made this collection special and showed that not all evening wear for women has to be a gown or dress. I also loved how he layered what appeared to be studded metallic gold leggings under many of his looks for a great pop of shimmer. Overall, I think this may have been his best collection to date! Loved Looks: #5: So much going on here! The layering is so clever with the various textures of the ruffle coat over the studded gold leggings! #9: The layering again here is incredible! The light fringe detailing on the top with the long leather gloves really elevate what is basically a pencil skirt and blouse. #11: A perfect classic blazer in a fun modern print. #14: Amazing split fabric and sequin coat - perfect for anyone who can’t make up their mind on what to wear. #16: These geo-print trousers will be mine! #23: Lovely quilted capelet and cobalt dress. #24: Gorgeous floral sequined print pencil skirt. #29: Love the whole look! #32: These trousers equal perfection! #38: Lovely new take on sequined jumpsuit and the split lace hip skirt is an amazing idea for dra- matic layering. #45: I love the rich purple colour and fine detail- ing on this dress. It’s so subtle, but equally bold and elegant. *As always,Ashley’s use of beautiful headdresses, shoes and glittered fingers were expertly executed. Pam Hogg Ashley Isham bite catwalk
