F ollowing on from the events of Days of Future Past, X-.Men: Apocalypse sees Charles Xavier and his fellow mutants face the immortal, invincible and seemingly unstoppable Apoc- alypse (Oscar Isaac). As the first and most powerful mutant, the return of Apocalypse sees his determination to bring about the end of humanity. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender return as Xavier and Magneto, alongside Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique/Raven Darkhölme, Evan Peters as Quicksilver/Peter Maximoff and Nicholas Hoult as Beast/Hank McCoy. Joining them in the fight are newcomers including Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner as Jean Grey and British actor Ben Hardy as Angel/Archangel/Warren Worthington III, with Rose Byrne returning as CIA agent Moira MacTaggert. However it remains to be seen whether this group of humans and mutants can stop their new enemy from destroying humanity. Interestingly, Apocalypse is also the fourth X-Men film for direc- tor Bryan Singer and sees the fourth cameo for Stan Lee in the film franchise. The film also marks the 30th anniversary of Apocalypse’s debut appearance in the X-Men comics. In a word? X-cellent.
