well. Even with her latest album 25,Adele couldn’t anticipate that it would surpass her previous two albums. Since its release on 20th November, 25 has sold a whop- ping 7.13 million copies in the USA alone, including an amazing pre-Christmas week boost of 1.15 million. Adele certainly timed it right. However, sometimes not everything is going to be plain sailing for long. Since her comeback, it was reported that Adele may have ripped off a tune from another singer with one of her most acclaimed tracks on the album. Apparently social media sites in Turkey are claiming that ‘Million Years Ago’ sounds a lot like Kurdish-Turkish singer Ahmet Kaya’s 1985 song ‘Acilara Tutunmak (Clinging to Pain)’ who died in November 2000. Whilst Turkish music critic Naim Dilmener accepted there are some similarities between the two songs, he also said it was not too much.“I don’t think Adele listened to Ahmet Kaya’s song and copied it deliberately,” he added, although he thinks that the Kurdish sing- er’s song was “an easy tune to figure out.” Adding to her success since her return to music, Adele has even helped her own album sales soar by a whopping 50% after her appearance on James Corden’s The Late Late Show where the comedian and singer is seen in a video singing two of her tracks – ‘Hello’ and ‘Rolling in the Deep’. Adele also resurrected Girl Power in full force by doing a brilliant Spice Girls rap version of ‘Wannabe’ on Carpool Karaoke which garnered an audience of 36 million. There was even time to discuss her new hairstyle which the comedian said he liked, with Adele pondering, “I can’t work out whether I should wear a wig wig or wear a weave.” Corden looked at her and replied, “I can’t believe you’re coming to me for this advice.” The singer has proved that she’s more than game for a laugh while doing the media rounds and promot- ing her album but was none too happy when fellow artist Ed Sheeran told her he was buying a flip phone during a recent meal. Apparently he hadn’t seen her new ‘Hello’ music video and she thought he was mocking her by bragging about the device. He told The Sun : “I’m getting rid of my phone and all the numbers. I bought a Motorola flip phone. She wasn’t happy about that.We went out for dinner and I hadn’t seen the ‘Hello’ video. I said, ‘I’m getting a flip phone’ and she said, ‘is that some sort of f*****g joke?’ I was like sat there being like, ‘is it?’ Someone piped up and was like,‘he hasn’t seen the video.’” Adele resumed her touring duties with the Adele Live 2016 tour with a total of 105 planned shows from February 2016. The first leg started in Belfast, Northern Ireland at the SSE Arena and will continue throughout Europe and North America before it concludes on 15 November 2016 in Mexico City, Mexico at Palacio de los Deportes. www.adele.com bitemusicceleb
