ow that they’re eighteen, you would hope that the “not so
fab” foursome would have grown up just a little, wouldn’t
you? Unfortunately for those slightly misguided optimists
out there, that’s definitely not the case.Will, Jay, Neil and Simon
may be slightly older but are no wiser than they were in sixth
form. These days, however it’s not so much trips to Thorpe Park
(returning minus one non vandalised car and a front door) but
now the rite of passage known as post A-levels lads’ holiday to
Crete.
Whether the poor Greek island quite knows what it’s in for
remains to be seen. Thankfully for this screen version of the
popular E4 television show, there hasn’t been a re-casting attempt
involving big name Hollywood actors. The cast remains the same
as before, with Emily Head as Carly joining Simon Bird and the
other boys in what is looking to be a holiday to remember (if you
happen to be one of the “young ones” that is). After meeting
and mostly trying to (badly) impress a group of girls also on holi-
day, there are several incidents involving the inevitable drinking
games and skinny dipping along with dodgy suntans and other
unfortunate occurrences. Going on past successes, it looks as if
this film could see the Inbetweeners boys adding to their previous
Bafta and British Comedy Awards collection and probably more
than a few swear words. The chance of Neil actually developing
some kind of intelligence is probably more doubtful though.

it for yourselves after August 19

A
pparently number four wasn’t the end of the journey for this franchise,
with director Steven Quale taking over from David R Ellis, as the latest
instalment of Death out for revenge makes the move into 3D. Horror
legend and Candyman star, Tony Todd, is among the players, reprising his role in
the original Final Destination feature, alongside a young cast of relative newcom-
ers including Emma Bell and Nicholas D’Agosto. The question is: will the incor-
poration of three dimensional death scenes add to the experience or simply be
a case of
here we go again
? Hopefully this new addition to the series will be the
former, with new and innovative ways of dispatching its cast as Death comes
back to claim those who should have died. After the disastrous and spectacu-
lar collapse of a suspension bridge, the survivors feel lucky to be alive, yet
soon find that one by one their time is soon to run out.
So what’s next for the franchise? According to cast member Tony Todd,
Final Destinations 6 and 7 are set to arrive in due course if number 5 proves
to be a success. Whatever new and inventive ways the writers can think of
to reunite Death with his victims remains to be seen, but after the release
of several online trailers for Final Destination 5, these ideas look to
become even gorier than ever before. If you see this you’ll never look at
the idea of laser eye surgery in quite the same way again.
