n May, Mint Hotel opened the doors to its first
international property, Mint Hotel Amsterdam.The
four star 553 room hotel occupies a prime position
overlooking the IJ River on Oosterdoksstraat at the
heart of the city; a mere five-minute walk from Central
Station and 15 minutes from Schiphol Airport. Similar
to Mint Hotel’s seven UK properties, the hotel is built
and designed on a philosophy of light and natural
space, hence the floor-to-ceiling windows which can
be found in all rooms and public spaces throughout
the hotel. The rooms and suites are modern and com-
fortable, with some offering balconies or terrace
space. The hotel’s vibrant destination restaurant, City Café offers a contemporary menu with a British twist. There’s also a choice of
three lounge bars including the Sky Lounge, a rooftop bar offering unrivalled panoramic views of the city.

n August, Aman resorts will launch its 24
th
property, Amanruya
located in a quiet valley on the northern coast of the Bodrum
Peninsula, overlooking the Aegean Sea. Surrounded by a pine
forest and olive groves, Amanruya is set on a peaceful hillside in
Mandalya Bay, with views of the sea and a winding pathway
leading to a protected pebble beach. The resort consists of a
collection of pavilions inspired by the regions traditional architec-
ture, ascending through a series of elevated levels. Courtyards and
terraces create the ambience of a village, while still providing a
sense of space and luxury. Local materials have been used, includ-
ing stone, acajou wood and Turkish marble. The accommodation
has taken the form of 36 stone cottages, each with its own spa-
cious garden, leading to a private marble swimming pool. The
resort has a library, bar, wine and cigar lounge, dining pavilions, a
boutique, art gallery and massage rooms (an Aman Spa will open
in 2012).There’s also a large pool and tennis court, plus an infor-
mal Beach Club.
