in addition to all the extras you’d expect in a hotel (e.g. soap, tow-
els, and hairdryers).
TRAVELLING
With all the different sites to see around Prague, it is important that
you can get to them all. I recommend buying a tourist pass that
allows you to use any public transport as many times as you
want within the time you have paid for. For example, you may pay
for use of all public transport for 24 hours, 3 days, 1 month etc. For

FOOD
Vegetarians may struggle to eat traditional Czech cuisine as their
customary meals may as well be renamed meat, meat and more
meat! I decided to try the traditional Czech meal that is pointed
out on boards everywhere; beef with dumplings. It is delicious, but
be prepared for a mountain of meat! A restaurant in the OldTown
in Prague that is known for its outstanding food is La Degustation.
Whilst there are many dishes to choose from (on three different
menus), I was particularly taken with their beef tongue. Marinated
for three weeks and cooked for six hours ensures that, despite it
being tongue, it is delicious!
NIGHTLIFE
There is a good nightlife in Prague, and this is growing. If you like to
stick to places you know, there is a Hard Rock Cafe about 50
metres from Old Town Square, and this is considered to be the
largest Hard Rock Cafe in Europe. However, if you want something
less touristy, U Sudu is a great three-storey bar in New Town with
a different atmosphere on each level. The various tunnels, hidden
bars and rooms give the bar a labyrinth-like feel and ensure that
you’re kept interested all
night. Vinoteka wine bar is a
much more chilled out place if
you simply want to meet and
chat.
