AMANDA BLAKE REVIEWSTHREE UP AND COMING
ARTISTS MAKINGWAVES INTHE MUSIC CHARTS
FOE
W
hen you receive rave reviews from media fans like NME, i-D and
Notion, that’s got to be a good omen for the future. If you’re FOE,
then you probably just take it all in your stride. Signed toVertigo Records,
FOE has been described as a talented ’sharp suited punkette’ and her
sound as ‘drawling melodies’ with ‘big jagged guitars and glitching
kick-drums’. The independent label behind her debut EP
“Hot NewTrash”,
Stella Mortos have teamed up withVertigo Records for the release of her
new single
“Deep Water Heart Breaker”
available on 7 inch single and
download. Having worked with musicians such as Craig
Silvey (Pearl Jam), the single also includes the B side
“Fox”
which reveals a sinister and more ominous
side to her music. Other projects and collabora-
tions have seen FOE working with Ghostpoet,
Entrepeneurs and front man, Alec Empire of German
hardcore group Atari Teenage Riot.
Look out for
“Deep Water Heart Breaker”
when it’s released
on 8
th
August 2011, and be sure to catch FOE when you can - having
completed several dates throughout July, more look set to follow or if you
can’t wait that long try

NERO
Proving that being successful in music doesn’t have to
mean having limits; remixers du jour, Nero not only were
invited to be the supporting act for Tinie Tempah’s next
UK tour in the autumn by the man himself but recently
they collaborated on a new commissioned piece titled
“Dubstep Symphony” with the renowned BBC
Philharmonic Orchestra.
With their latest offering,
“Promises”
released on 25 th
July to be followed shortly by the debut album
“Welcome
Reality”
through the label MTA from Chase and Status, the
kings of remixes are following on from a string of UK festi-
val appearances including Glastonbury, the Big Weekend
from Radio 1 andWireless.
Now with their name on a list of music polls and
becoming known as a definite one to watch out for in 2011,
Nero are part of the sound of this year and well on their
way to becoming the new icons of drum and bass and dub-
step. Find more information at
