November 2012 with CFDA award
fashion designer Norma Kamali at famed
chef and restaurateur Geoffrey Zakarian’s
hotspot, The Lambs Club. For those who

parachutes, and versatile multi-use pieces.
She designed the red one-piece bathing suit
worn by Farah Fawcett in the iconic 1976
poster, and her creations are included
in the collections of The Metropolitan
Museum of Art in New York City and the
National Museum of American History in
Washington, DC.
The 67-year-old fashion designer has a
new mission beyond fashion; to empower
women.Norma believes that objectification
of women is still one of world’s biggest
problems and wants her “Hey Baby” Stop
Objectification initiative to be the catalyst
for social change. She launched the website
StopObjectification.com, where women
can upload photos, statements and post
empowering stories.
Norma says, “Objectification creates
self-esteem and image issues. The secrets
we keep, as a result of our objectified
experiences, foster behaviour and
issues that undermine self-esteem and
empowerment for women. The secrets
are held because of the embarrassment
and humiliation of each incident. Sharing
our stories helps free ourselves of the pain
and starts the emotional cleanse. We can
inspire one another with our stories by
reminding each other of the many varied
