Linzi biteshoes Easy Elevation F or many years, Johnny and Marlene Berger ran their Linzi Shoe stall, named after their daughter Lindsey, at Romford Market. Established in 1247 by Royal Charter from King Henry III, it is one of the oldest and largest street markets in East London, originally serving as a vital hub for sheep and cattle. Here, Linzi Shoe was a major fixture, where people came to find fun, fashionable, and fairly priced shoes. It also became the foundation of a future brand philosophy built on energy, accessibility, and a genuine love of footwear. In 1989, Lindsey and her former trainee dental technician husband, Ashley Morris, who told Drapersonline in 2014 he left “teeth for feet” after they got engaged, opened their first shop, Shoe Crazy in Woolwich. The shop was bold, lively, and unashamedly passionate about footwear. Customers loved the energy, the variety, and the sense that this was a place where style didn’t have to be serious to be good. When Lindsey’s parents retired ten years later, the couple took over and renamed their shop, Linzi. The rebrand became a familiar name on high streets and shopping centres across the UK, including its physical shop at The Liberty Shopping Centre in Romford and retailers such as Next, Matalan, Debenhams, Freemans, and Amazon UK. Linzi carried the same sense of fun and fashion that had defined its early days. Customers from all corners of the UK discovered the brand, drawn in by its blend of trend‑driven styles and timeless staples for nights out, colder months and last-minute holidays.
