The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2026 - Issue 39

Gianni Versace Retrospective biteexhibition G ianni Versace arrives in Paris in the summer of 2026 as a flamboyant and vi‑ sionary force pulsing with the audacity that made himone of fashion’s great rev‑ olutionaries. The Musée Maillol’s Gianni Versace Ret- rospective, the first major French exhibition devoted to him since 1986, gathers nearly 450 pieces, including original creations, accessories, sketches, photographs, videos, and rare interviews to reconstruct the world he built and the cultural shockwaves he left behind. Rather than a look back, it is a vivid re‑immersion into a universe where glamour, sensuality, and baroque ex‑ cess collide with the precision of an artist who under‑ stood fashion as a total language. Designed by Nathalie Crinière, the scenography em‑ braces a boldly pop spirit, turning the museum into a runway that stretches through nearly every room. This fitting gesture captures the catwalk as Versace’s thea‑ tre, arena, and declaration of intent. And in Paris, the capital of couture and cradle of fashion mythology, the gesture becomes even more symbolic. The exhibition, running from 5 June to 31 October, honours almost 30 years since his death and his 80th birthday. Cura‑ tors Saskia Lubnow and Karl von der Ahé shape the show as a tribute and revelation, allowing visitors to trace the designer’s evolution from his childhood in Calabria to the global empire he built.
