G eorgian designer George Keburia returned to London Fashion Week with a collection that felt suspended between centuries. Blurring histori- cal references with digital-age fantasy, his SS26 presentation explored the collision of Victorian romanticism, military tailoring and futuristic gaming culture, creating a the- atrical, surreal and unmistakably contemporary runway. The collection was particularly compelling for refusing to settle into a single aesthetic language. Keburia embraced contradic- tion fully, allowing softness and severity to coexist within the same silhouettes. Voluminous puffed sleeves and exaggerated bubble hems appeared alongside sharply tailored jackets and rigid military-inspired detailing. At the same time, ultra-micro shorts disrupted the collection’s more formal historical refer- ences with moments of irreverence and humour. Fabric and texture played a crucial role throughout the presentation. Sheer organza and delicate guipure lace floated against glossy patent leather, rugged denim and structured gabardine, creating an ongoing tension between fragility and armour. Keburia’s use of layering gave many looks an almost dimensional quality, as though garments were shifting between realities or timelines. Raw edges and distressed finishes con- trasted with immaculate tailoring, reinforcing the collection’s exploration of temporal dislocation. Silhouette remained one of the show’s strongest elements. Broad shoulders, geometric cuts and sculptural shapes gave the garments architectural presence, while softer draping and fluid movement introduced moments of vulnerability. Snake-print textures, glossy surfaces and oversized proportions added fur- ther drama, balancing historical grandeur with contemporary playfulness. The styling and beauty direction beautifully amplified the collection’s hybrid identity. Sculptural hair, metallic make-up and high-shine finishes created a distinctly digital aura, mak- ing the models appear somewhere between historical figures and futuristic avatars. The casting added further depth to the presentation, grounding the more theatrical elements with individuality and character rather than uniform perfection. What has always distinguished Keburia is the brand’s ability to approach theatrical fashion without losing emotional or cultur- al resonance. Beneath the exaggerated silhouettes and futuristic fantasy sat a deeper reflection on identity, transformation and the fluidity of modern self-expression.
