The couple often travelled to Thailand in search of unique pieces to import. After it became a pure wholesale business in 1987 and began in-house designing and manufacturing in 1989, the name evolved into Pandora, inspired by the figure in Greek mythology, to reflect its new, specialised brand identity. In 2000, Pandora launched its now‑iconic charm bracelet concept in Denmark, transforming the brand from a growing Scandinavian platform into a global phenomenon through third-party distributors and strong production capabilities in Thailand. The modular design allowed customers to build their own bracelets piece by piece, creating personal, expressive and accessible jewellery. This new kind of luxury was rooted in storytelling and individuality, resonating around the world. As the brand expanded through the 2000s and 2010s, opening concept stores and entering new markets, it became one of the most recognisable names in contemporary jewellery.
