bitecatwalk PAIRI DAEZA I f Lamarr speaks in the language of innovation through ma- terial, Pairi Daeza articulates it through culture. Founded by Iranian sisters Yasaman and Nastaran Rezaee, the label’s winter collection unfolded like a living tapestry as an ode to Persian heritage reinterpreted through Italian tailoring. Its title evokes a paradise garden. In ancient Persian, pairi daeza means 'walled garden’, the linguistic root of the word ‘paradise.’ The Rezaee sisters have reimagined that sacred enclosure as a met- aphor for preservation of tradition, community, and memory. Each garment, from structured coats to flowing skirts, carries a story stitched by marginalised artisans across Iran. Upcycled Italian deadstock fabrics serve as canvases for Baluch embroi- dery, Ghalamkar block-printing, and mirror crochet crafts rec- ognised by UNESCO as part of the world’s intangible heritage. Brass accessories etched by Esfahan artisans gleam with zodiac symbols taken from thirteenth-century manuscripts, while rugs hand-knotted by nomadic women in the country’s northwest become tote bags that fuse function with folklore. The collection’s chromatic rhythm draws from Yalda, the Per- sian winter solstice celebration that marks the longest night of the year, when, as the myth goes, the golden sun (the woman) meets the silver moon (the man) for a rare celestial embrace. Red fruits, wine, cypress trees and pomegranates all appear as motifs woven through the fabrics. It is romantic symbolism lay- ered with activism: the sisters are reclaiming endangered cul- tural practices while creating dignified work for women whose skills have long been undervalued. To wear Pairi Daeza is to wear fashion, but also to share in a cultural restoration, the kind of garment that carries history and a pulse of hope. https://pairidaezashop.com FASHION WEEK MILAN Autumn/Winter 2025 Images courtesy of Maximilian Linz
