The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2025 - Issue 38
bitecatwalk S inéad Gorey’s AW25 show arrived with a jolt of energy, cutting through the quieter corners of London Fashion Week. Staged in a car park near Oxford treet, the venue itself set a raw, urban, and unapologetical- ly gritty tone. The collection carried her signature attitude but with a subtle shift. It felt as though the woman she designs for hasn’t stopped going out; she’s learned how to carry the night into the morning. The clothes held onto Gorey’s established spirit, yet hinted at a new maturity, like the moment a night owl realises she has a 9 am meeting and dresses for both worlds. From the first look of tailored coats layered over par- ty-ready minis, it was clear Gorey wasn’t reinventing her- self, but refining the chaos she’s known for. The silhouettes were sharp without rigidity: cropped jackets with stretch leggings, sequinned skirts alongside crisp shirting, and her trademark body-skimming dresses softened by oversized outerwear. The styling was deliberately mismatched, in that distinctly London way that life isn’t tidy, so why should fashion pretend to be? Footwear became a headline moment: knee-high heeled Converse, a collaboration that stamped the show with defiance and youth. Accessories echoed the same spirit of thigh-high socks, padded bags that looked like they’d sur- vived a night out, and the now-iconic KFC snack boxes on seats, a wink at Gorey’s humour and self-awareness. What elevated the collection was the mood beneath the styling. Gorey is moving into a more considered phase: tailoring is sharper, fabrics carry weight, and the palette leans darker and richer. Y2K references remain with velour hoodies, low-slung trousers, glossy textures, but they’ve been filtered through lived experience. Less costume, more memory. The AW25 line-up felt designed for women with whole lives, not just nightlife. These pieces work after dark but hold their own the next morning, or en route to some- where else entirely. Gorey blurred the line between day and night with ease, making the collection feel authentic and lived-in. While many shows leaned either too serious or too nostal- gic, Gorey struck a balance. AW25 was confident, playful without frivolity, and self-aware without irony. It wasn’t fantasy but a recognisable life. Gorey isn’t abandoning the party girl; she’s letting her grow up on her own terms. And that evolution may be her most decisive move yet. https://sineadgorey.co.uk Sinéad Gorey FASHION WEEK LONDON Autumn/Winter 2025
