The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2025 - Issue 38
bitefashion In February 2021, ASOS acquired Topshop, Top- man, and Miss Selfridge. The deal included intellec- tual property and stock but excluded physical stores, marking the end of Topshop’s high street presence and, for many, the end of an era. Under its new par- ent, Topshop transitioned into an online-only model, expanding its reach globally and streamlining its sup- ply chain. Yet, the brand’s soulful tactile experience of shopping in-store, the buzz of new drops, and the cultural cachet remained elusive. This year, Topshop announced plans to reopen stan- dalone stores across the UK, with a new flagship in Manchester and pop-ups in London, Glasgow, and Birmingham. Built against the iconic backdrop of the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square was transformed into a fashion amphitheatre with a mirror runway and immersive light installations. The collection blended nostalgia with modernity, such as oversized ‘80s blazers, cinched low-rise denim, faux fur coats and abstract maxi dresses with live sets from DJ Kil- imanjaro. The AW25 collection comprises sharp tailoring, statement outerwear, standout dresses and must- have denim, like the Formal Longline Funnel Neck Car Coat crafted from a textured woven fabric in grey with a funnel neck, button placket and side pockets. The Faux Fur Pony Skin Cow Print Bomber Jacket in cream features a spread collar, a zip fastening, and an elasticated hem. Crafted from plush velvet, the high- neck Long Sleeve Velvet and Chiffon Mix Mini Dress in black has chiffon sleeves and panel details. Taking inspiration from the ‘80s and crafted from a textured woven fabric, the Tonic Double Breasted Oversized Suit Blazer in grey features boxy padded shoulders, peak lapels and pocket details. It is paired with the Tonic Pleated Suit Trouser with belt loops, concealed fly, and a side buckle for an adjustable fit. Made from a glossy, drapey and silky-smooth fabric, the Occasion Mixed Fabric Cowl Neck Dress in black has a cowl neckline, open back, and mesh hem. An eye-catching piece was the Borg Longline Ovoid Sleeve Patchwork Coat in black and beige, featuring a funnel neck, button placket, and side pockets. The Knitted Argyle Jumper in charcoal has a slouchy de- sign with a drop shoulder, long sleeves, and a clas- sic crew neck. In non-stretch black wash denim for a classical feel, the Dree High Rise Slim Straight Leg Jean features belt loops, a concealed fly and five pock- ets on a high-rise waist. One of the most notable shifts in Topshop’s revival is its commitment to ethical fashion, using recycled fab- rics, transparent sourcing, and limited-run pieces to reduce waste in its collections. The brand is now ap- pealing to Gen Z and Millennials who demand more
