The Bite Magazine - Autumn/Winter 2025 - Issue 38
bitefashion Yang’s futurism has always been distinctly emotional, unlike the sterile sci-fi fantasies of some tech-inspired fashion. It trembles, sweats, and dreams. The designer uses exagger- ation to expose the vulnerability within the post-human. The armour glitters, yes, but its armour is made to protect a soul still in search of warmth. The runway becomes an act of reclamation, rather than a prediction of apocalypse. It’s a re- minder that even when technology surrounds and consumes us, instinct will always find a way to speak. Materially, the collection continues with a commitment to experimentation and sustainability. 3D-printed details and recycled synthetics coexist with faux fur and reworked leath- er, pushing the boundaries of how tactile and digital fabri- cation can intertwine. The craftsmanship is meticulous yet conceptual, a fusion of Milanese precision and Yang’s own avant-pop sensibility, rooted in East and West. Her aesthetic language, once dubbed ‘tech-romantic’, now feels more like eco-futurist expressionism with art as a form of mutation. In the broader landscape of Milan Fashion Week, this col- lection stood apart for its visual audacity and philosophical weight. While other houses chase commercial polish, Yang interrogates existential questions. Who do we become when data can quantify every emotion, gesture, and desire? What remains of ‘wildness’ when every environment is curated, every identity algorithmically predicted? Her answer is radi- cal: wildness itself must evolve. The primal mutates, rewires, and learns to roar in binary. By the finale, models emerged in sculptural coats that fused metallic ribs with soft, breathing fabrics, a choreography of contrasts. The lights dimmed to a low hum, and the space filled with a forest soundscape of wind, static, and distant an- imal calls distorted through speakers. The effect was uncan- ny yet magnetic, a digital hallucination of nature reborn. For a brief moment, the metallic forest felt real, a glimpse of a fu- ture where humanity’s survival depends on remembering it. ‘Future Forest – Wild Rebirth’ is about the courage to carry our wild genes forward into the age of algorithms. In Yang’s vision, evolution is not a linear path but a feedback loop be- tween fur and fibre, bone and data, fear and imagination. The collection insists that our next chapter as a species will be written not by machines alone, but by whatever remains of our capacity to feel. In the end, Anna’s world is sharp yet tender, mechanical yet feral paradox. It suggests that the wild will not vanish but will adapt, infiltrate, and ultimately redefine the very systems that tried to contain it. And that, perhaps, is Yang’s prophecy that in the metallic forests of the future, the wild heart will beat louder than ever. https://annakiki.com/en-gb Images courtesy of ANNAKIKI
