H ave you noticed summer seems to get hotter each year? According to AI, UK summer temperatures are increasing due to climate change, resulting in more prolonged and intense heatwaves. This warming trend is the result of human activities, notably the burning of fossil fuels, which releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. I love the heat, but waking up in the morning with the sun giving me a sauna in my bed while the fan is blowing warm air instead of cold is not welcoming. While global warming is intensifying and Mother Nature appears to be having a meltdown, we should all do our part to help preserve the planet; more brands are embracing sustainability. One individual is Taiwanese designer and INF founder, Kuo Wei, whose deconstructions reimagine silhouettes through hybrid pieces, such as bags transformed into t-shirts or skirts converted into trousers. This ethos gives INF clothes multiple identities, offering adaptability and longevity while reducing waste. We explore the lesser-known etchings of celebrated British artist Lucian Freud through the Lucian Freud’s Etchings: A Creative Collaboration exhibition at Titanic Belfast, running until 30 September. We also marvel at the Cartier Exhibition, currently showing at the V&A in South Kensington until 16 November, which showcases its exceptional collection of over 350 pieces, including jewellery, watches, accessories, sketches, and archival materials from the V&A and Cartier Collections. Aston Martin unveiled their first series-production hybrid mid-engined supercar, Valhalla, whose name is taken from the marque’s ‘V’ car tradition in ancient Norse mythology. Its Formula One® influences offer a clean, reductive design that immerses the driver and passenger into an unforgettable supercar experience. Meanwhile, Bentley realised a customer’s special commission by painting their Batur in bespoke black rose metallic paintwork and satin gold accents. After rapper Megan Thee Stallion impressed us with her bilingual, cross-cultural skills on the single ‘Mamushi’ with Japanese rapper and singer Yuki Chiba, we were further excited by her latest track ‘Whenever’. We learn how East Coast rapper Redman got his stage name, his collaboration with Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man, and his homage to his hometown of New Jersey in his track ‘Jersey’. We also partied with Liz Mitchell, the original singer of Boney M, as she celebrated her MBE at the Houses of Parliament. On a lovely summer evening, we attended SOUND Cafe’s new menu launch at the Cumberland Hotel in Marble Arch, where we savoured succulent meat and vegetable dishes, including Wild Mushroom Arancini, Chicken Schnitzel, Grilled Tiger Prawns, and Grilled Rib Eye Skewer. Bombay Sapphire encourages us to Step Into The Blue with their premium gin. At the same time, actress and global style icon Sophie Turner rekindles her love affair with St-Germain Hugo Spritz and teaches us to make the perfect drink.
