Jada Brookes admires French sculptor Martic’s artistic sculptured creations of women’s curvaceous bodies. biteartist Artist Profile T hree-dimensional sculptures are created using various methods and materials. The different types include relief, which pro- duces raised or sunken images on a flat surface, with the sculpted elements connected to the background. Additive involves building a sculpture by adding materials, like clay, plaster, metal or other materials, to create the desired form. Subtractive is a technique where an artist starts with a block of mate- rial (like stone, wood, or wax) and removes portions to create a sculpture. French contemporary and visionary artist Martic, known for creating immersive and interactive sculp- tural installations, utilises stainless steel and LED to create a luminous aura. His work explores themes of serenity, enlightenment, and the beauty of embrac- ing imperfections, such as ‘Kintsugi’ which features a figure seated in an Indian-style position, with arms raised and hands gently pressed against her neck, glazing upward with closed eyes, evoking a sense of introspection and mindfulness. His sculptures are a symphony of materials demon- strating his craftsmanship mastery and visionary spirit. With a discerning eye and a deft touch, Martic expertly fuses stainless steel with brass incrustation. This innovative combination creates an intriguing interplay of textures, reflecting light and shadow and adding a touch of warmth and richness to each sculp- ture. The artist’s material choices elevate his creations to new heights, resulting in captivating works of art that command attention and admiration. Martic Images courtesy of Eclectic Gallery
