The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2025 - Issue 37

Studio AMBIGENDER bitefashion S tudio Nicholson has carved a niche by consistently deliv- ering timeless and contemporary collections. The brand, helmed by creative director and founder Nick Wakeman, explores the intersection of menswear and womenswear, creat- ing a functional and stylish unisex wardrobe. The collection is a masterful blend of ecclesiastical influences, utilitarian aesthet- ics, and a nod to ‘80s and ‘90s American sportswear, producing sophisticated and effortlessly cool apparel. As with any collection, the journey begins with the fabrics. Wakeman’s excitement over textiles is palpable. This passion drives the creative process with various materials that evoke nostalgia while remaining firmly rooted in the present. The fabrics are chosen from noisy Japanese cotton nylon to bond- ed leather for their aesthetic appeal and ability to tell a story. Wakeman describes the collection as having a “certain eccle- siastical mood”, a theme that runs throughout the garments, lending them a sense of quiet dignity and grace. One of Studio Nicholson’s defining characteristics is its com- mitment to unisex fashion. The collection continues this tra- dition, with many pieces designed for men and women. This approach not only creates garments that fit both genders but also challenges the traditional notions of what menswear and womenswear should look like. The collection is fluid and versa- tile, with pieces that can be styled to suit the individual. A standout piece is the Alph Varsity Jacket, available in dark- est navy and black, the epitome of understated cool, with a discreetly nonchalant yet undeniably stylish design. Whether paired with a dress or jeans, the jacket is a versatile addition to any wardrobe. Similarly, the Riso Jean, a ‘90s-inspired straight- cut denim, is officially a men’s shape but is designed to be em- braced by women as well.
