bitenewmusic B ristol Scaler band members Alex Hill, Isaac Jones, James Rushforth, Nick Berthoud, and visual artist Jason Baker have returned with details of their highly anticipated new album, Endlessly. It follows the release of ‘Broken Entry’ in April and their signing to Black Acre, who will release the album in September 2025. Their last album, Void, earned praise for their “perfect [alliance] between intensity and precision” and led to a 2023 double A-side single with Daniel Avery that expanded on their more club-wide impulse. Their slew of remix projects shared over the years featured boundary-hoppers such as Laurel Halo, Bruce, and Azu Tiwaline. It also gave them more chances to play out their formidable, now-legendary live show, including an ArcTanGent headline, a Shangri-La shutdown at Glastonbury, and perfor- mances at Boomtown, Green Man, End of the Road, ADE, Units Snores, and many more. Their latest album combines trip- hop, drum ’n’ bass, and experimental electronic with pupil-di- lating techno, metal, and drill. The new single ‘Salt’ featuring Akiko Haruna combines digitally manipulated vocal melodies, sweeping glitched-out synths, re- strained hi-speed rhythms, and distorted bass. Speaking on the single, the band said, “Collaboration was central to the creation of this album, and Akiko was the first artist we reached out to. We’ve been long-time fans of her vocals, sound design, and production, and working together has been something we’ve wanted to do for a long time, so we’re thrilled it finally came to life.” Speaking on the single’s theme, Haruna said, “Salt is a reflection on the cycles a person can get trapped in when shame becomes a punishment and a release. When guilt weighs heavily, they may chase comfort in familiar patterns: seeking control through self-destruction, intensity over numbness, and recognition at any cost. This track came from piecing together quiet warnings, when someone confuses feeling seen with being exposed.” The band recently completed a packed-out EU tour with And So I Watch You From Afar and Robocobra Quartet and have announced a further live date in Bristol in August, as well as several dates in November for a UK headline tour. https://scalerband.com Scaler - Salt Image courtesy of Prescription PR
