The Bite Magazine - Spring/Summer 2025 - Issue 37
Mia Zhang admires Icon Denim L.A’s SS25 denim collection and sustainability ethos. bitefashion “We’re designing for the next decade, not just the next season,” Mauro emphasised. In an era where TikTok dictates trends and Gen Z wields unparalleled purchasing power, Icon Denim L.A leans into digital-first strategies. The collection’s campaign fea- tures micro-influencers and user-generated content, spot- lighting real customers in iconic looks. A virtual try-on tool, launched alongside the collection, allows shoppers to experiment with outfits via augmented reality—a nod to the brand’s collaboration with tech innovators. “Gen Z doesn’t just buy clothes; they buy into stories,” says Jo- seph. “We’re not selling jeans. We’re selling a mindset—a blend of nostalgia and futurism that resonates with kids who grew up online but crave authenticity.” The collection pays homage to denim’s storied past while propelling it forward. Wide-leg jeans with contrast stitch- ing echo the rebellious spirit of 1950s greasers but are up- dated with elasticated cuffs for mobility. Cropped trucker jackets, a nod to Levi Strauss’ 1873 riveted design, feature detachable collars lined with wool-blended denim—a sig- nature Icon Denim L.A fabric pairing that adds texture and depth. “Denim has always been a chameleon,” Mau- ro reflects. “It’s been workwear, a symbol of rebellion, a high-fashion statement. Now, it’s becoming a platform for sustainability and tech. That’s the beauty of this materi- al—it evolves with us.” In an exclusive interview, Mauro delved into the brand’s philosophy: “Fashion is about connection. In a digital age, clothing becomes a tactile way to express who we are and aspire to be.” This sentiment is echoed in Joseph’s creative process: “I’m inspired by Los Angeles’ grit and glamour— the skate parks, the red carpets, the hidden galleries. This city doesn’t fit into a box, and neither does our denim.” As the finale look—a sheer white denim gown with yellow floral embroidery—glided down the runway, it was clear that Icon Denim L.A isn’t only forecasting trends; it’s re- defining them. By harmonising heritage and innovation, inclusivity and edge, the brand cements its role as a trail- blazer in the denim renaissance. Icon Denim L.A offers more than clothing in a world hun- gry for authenticity. It provides a manifesto: Wear your past, design your future, and dare to be iconic. The SS25 collection will be available online and in select stores worldwide. www.icondenimlosangeles.com Images provided by Icon Denim L.A Classic Reborn
