bitejewellery T imeless jewellery designer Charlotte Chesnais transcends time and trends with her ingenious pieces that blur the lines between jewellery and sculpture. She launched her Paris-based name- sake brand in 2015, focusing on the interplay of lines and curves in endless interaction with the body. Her jewellery adorns the neck, wraps around the wrists, and brushes against the ears, covering streamlined sensuality and exuding rhythmic expression. Her first creation, a stack of multiple cuffs, was developed while she was a ready-to-wear designer at Balenciaga under Nicolas Ghesquière. This piece played with propor- tions, and her reimagined classic forms create a unique vision that transcends traditional jewellery. With an unwavering entrepreneurial spirit, the designer combines architectural shapes with unexpected designs, applying her creativity with a purposeful touch. At Paris Fashion Week, Chesnais unveiled her Spring-Summer 2025 collection, showcasing her mastery in transforming metal into fluid forms that resonate with strength and delicacy. Known for her sculptural approach to jewellery design, she blurs the lines between adorn- ment and art, presenting pieces emphasising movement and space. This season, the designer was inspired by the concept of ‘Blowing Sculpture’, exploring the relationship between solid structures and the ephemeral nature of air. The col- lection featured pieces that captured motion in stillness. Loops twisted and turned with a sense of perpetual move- ment, while curves suggested an unseen force guiding their shape. One standout item was a necklace made of interlocking loops that gracefully rested on the collarbone, with each segment reflecting light differently as the wearer moved. The design evoked a feeling of perpetual motion as if the metal had been suspended mid-twist in the air. For instance, the earrings in the collection featured elongated forms that curved and tapered, creating ethereal silhou- ettes. Chesnais’ use of polished gold and silver enhanced the themes of lightness and transparency in the collection. By leaning into these materials, she revealed the dynamic nature of her work, balancing exposure and concealment and inviting viewers to appreciate the meticulous preci- sion in each design. This collection transformed her sculptural vision into pieces beyond mere seasonal wear. In collaboration with French silverware and tableware brand Christof- le, she introduced a line of tableware echoing the same organic shapes found in her wearable designs. With teardrop-shaped handles and smooth, flowing curves, each piece blurred the line between function and form, reimagining cutlery as design objects. In a season filled with bold aesthetics and visual excess, Chesnais opted for a quieter approach. Her Spring-Summer 2025 collection drew strength from restraint, encouraging a closer examination of line, move- ment, and negative space.
